Using a Beneficiary Designation to Make a Gift to Charity

Jane and her late husband had always giving generously to their church and community. They wanted to expand their giving and chose three organizations they believed in strongly. They were passionate about supporting the work and mission of each group. She met with her attorney to discuss how she could make a significant gift to each.
A trust was established with property and other assets placed into the trust. The beneficiaries of the trust were the three organizations Jane and her husband had selected earlier. Upon Jane's passing, Limbs for Life was notified and received one-third of the proceeds from the assests placed in the trust, a significant gift to continue the work of Limbs for Life, providing prosthetic care for amputees in need.
